DEPORTIVO LA CORUÑA CREATE A CLUB

Deportivo La Coruña, a Spanish club that used to be one of the top teams in the world, has now fallen out of sight into the depths of the amateur leagues. In 1999-00, the club were La Liga winners. In 2004, they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. But in 2010-11, things took a turn for the worst. Their first relegation came this season, finishing 18th. Immediate promotion back to the top flight followed in 2011-12, before being relegated once again in the next season. They were back in the top flight for the 2014-15 season, where they were utterly humiliated, including an 8-2 defeat to Real Madrid.

The title winning team of 1999-2000 is a faded memory of La Coruña

In 2017-18, the team were relegated once again to the 2nd tier, and this would sadly be the end of La Liga football. In the 2018-19 season, Deportivo finished 6th, reaching the play-offs before ultimately losing to Mallorca 3-2 on aggregate. This, is where things took an even worse turn. The 2019-20 season saw things crumble, historic titles were strewn to the side and a once powerful Spanish team were now staring right into the pits of relegation again. But this wasn’t relegation to some comforting 2nd tier, but the multi-team, multi-group mesh of the 3rd tier. In the end, you can’t stop the inevitable, and after 39 years, Deportivo La Coruña left the Spanish professional league.

But that’s what this create a club idea is about. Remaking this dying club and taking them to the very top of Spain. Their badge is one that is fairly well known, and their kits symbolise past triumphs and future hope. So can you take Los Herculinos to the top once again, winning La Liga, the UCL and every other trophy that gets in your way?

The club’s stadium lies on the Atlantic coast, in the north west of spain

It may not be easy, but when is football ever a fair experience.

Rules:
Recreate Deportivo La Coruña in Create a Club, giving the club a white circular badge, and a blue and white home kit/black and blue away kit.

Give the club a stadium with around 30,000 seats and name it ‘Riazor’ after the clubs real stadium.

Win the La Liga title and UCL to officially complete this challenge.

Only sign Iberian players for the first 3 seasons, signing at least 1 Spanish player every window.

And that is all there really is to it. Don’t forget to follow RaatjeFC on Twitter, Insta and YouTube, as well as following the websites own accounts on Twitter and Insta too, as well as joining the official discord server!
